Partners and Paws has the capabilities of performing endoscopy at our Lisle location. Whether it is for a foreign body retrieval or for biopsies, we are happy to offer this specialty service at a reasonable price.
Dr. Newman is also able to travel to other veterinary hospitals that may not have the necessary equipment and perform the procedure there.
Endoscopy is a minimally invasive procedure allows the doctors to see inside a pet’s body and, when necessary, take biopsies (tissue samples) without having to perform surgery. Endoscopy is commonly used to examine the inside of the ears, nose, esophagus, colon, bladder, stomach, and other internal organs. Endoscopy can also be used to assist with minimally invasive surgeries and is particularly valuable in retrieving swallowed items.
Types of endoscopy include:
- Bronchoscopy: an exam of the lower airways.
- Colonoscopy:an exam of the transverse colon, ascending colon, cecum, large bowel, and rectum.
- Endoscopy: an exam of the esophagus, stomach, and upper intestines.
- Rhinoscopy: an exam of the nasal cavity and nasopharynx (junction between the nasal area and the back of the throat).
Endoscopy also allows Dr. Newman the ability to perform preventative Gastropexy’s to held aid in the prevention of bloat to dogs that are at higher risk of bloat.
Endoscopy does require that your pet be placed under anesthesia. As with all such procedures, we follow strict protocols and continually monitor your pet’s vital signs to help ensure his or her safety.
