Xylitol – An artificial sweetener that is TOXIC to dogs

☣️ALERT!!☣️🎃🎃 As Halloween approaches, many households tend to stock up on TREATS!! But these treats can be NASTY TRICKS for your dog! BE AWARE of candies and foods that contain the artificial sweetener, XYLITOL.

Xylitol is HIGHLY TOXIC to dogs! (It does not cause serious problems in cats (or ferrets).) ☣️CHECK YOUR LABELS! ☣️ It is found in some yogurts, cookies, peanut butters, candies (including many gums!), and other products as a sugar sweetener substitute.

Again, ☣️CHECK YOUR LABELS!!☣️ The toxic dose of xylitol in dogs is even less than chocolate and can cause a rapid drop in a dog’s blood sugar (“hypoglycemia”) and result in staggering, disorientation, collapse, seizures, and even death.

This list contains a listing by type of SOME products that contain Xylitol. This list is NOT all inclusive but a preliminary guide. Always ☣️CHECK YOUR LABELS☣️ to ensure safety prior to giving to your pet!
